Peace Building

The growing scourge of gender-based violence has immeasurable impacts on individuals, communities as well as on national development. Although there have been efforts at legal and policy level as well as in raising awareness among communities, challenges remain. Community attitudes and social norms remain permissive to such violence and, due to patriarchy, women and girls are disproportionately affected.

ABDO also recognises that violent conflict, especially over political allegiances, and distribution of resources continues to plague its programming communities. In this respect, the organization implement programmes to raise awareness on the need to build peace in homes and the communities as well as to ensure access to services for survivors of such violence. Equally important is the work to ensure that favourable laws for addressing violence are in place and are being implemented.

Over the years, ABDO has partnered with different stakeholders including government arms and sponsors to create and sustain peaceful societies by addressing the root causes of conflict and promoting positive relationships
